The Federal Government is proposing a bill that will end your right to choose what you read, watch and say on social media.
The bill will force social media companies to heavily censor their sites. If they don’t, they will receive massive fines unless they censor your speech.
The government says it’s to stop “misinformation”, “disinformation” and “harm”, BUT they don’t say what will be considered:
- Misinformation;
- Disinformation; or
- What hurdle is required to be considered “harm”.
They also don’t say WHO will decide what could be determined as “misinformation” or “disinformation”.
They say it will be good for us. If it is, then why are they exempting themselves and their media friends from these rules? The government and mainstream media will be exempt from prosecution under the law if this bill passes. Even if you trust this government, do you trust the next one?
They’ve even given the bill an Orwellian name; the “Communications Legislation Amendment (Combatting Misinformation and Disinformation) Bill 2023”, hoping we won’t notice what it’s really about!
